The Midland Civic Arena became a hub of athletic grace this weekend as it hosted the 2025 Laura Maki Michigan High School Figure Skating Championships on March 22–23. The event welcomed 36 teams across divisions A, B, and C, with teams traveling from all corners of the state.

Midland’s Division C team entered as the reigning state champion, while their Division B team aimed to improve on last year’s strong showing. Skaters competed in a range of individual and team events, showcasing their skills in spins, footwork, and synchronized routines.

The championships, which offered free admission to spectators, brought in a large crowd of family members, students, and local supporters. Judges praised the high level of competition and the artistic expression on display throughout the weekend.

The event not only highlighted young athletic talent but also fostered a sense of community and school pride. Organizers emphasized the importance of keeping youth sports accessible and well-supported.
